At the height of the crescendo the second transitional motive is introduced.  The nature of this phrase would suggest struggle.

Listen to the motive heard previously as Ex.9 and this new motive.  Both are descending phrases that sharply rise then descend again.  Ex.11 is loosely related to Ex.9.  Click here.
